We invest in the companies solving the climate crisis
Equinox Capital deploys patient, conviction-driven capital into climate technology that can scale. We believe the greatest investment opportunity of our generation is the transition to a sustainable economy — and we are building the portfolio to prove it.
Our investment thesis
Grid-Scale Energy Storage
The sun sets. The wind stops. But demand never does. We back the next generation of battery chemistries and storage architectures that make renewable energy reliable around the clock — iron-air, flow batteries, and compressed air systems that can store gigawatt-hours.
Carbon Removal at Scale
Offsets are not enough. We invest in permanent carbon removal — direct air capture, enhanced weathering, and biochar sequestration — technologies that pull CO₂ out of the atmosphere and lock it away for thousands of years. Our portfolio companies have removed over 800,000 tons to date.
Sustainable Infrastructure
Buildings account for 40% of global emissions. We fund the materials, construction methods, and building systems that are cutting that number in half — mass timber, low-carbon concrete, smart HVAC, and net-zero retrofits for the world's aging building stock.
Leadership
Amara Okonkwo
Managing Partner
Former Director of Climate Finance at the World Bank. Amara has deployed over $8 billion into emerging market clean energy and led the structuring of the first sovereign green bond in sub-Saharan Africa.
Henrik Lindqvist
Partner, Energy Transition
A materials scientist turned investor. Henrik spent 12 years at Tesla Energy before joining Equinox, where he leads investments in grid-scale storage and next-generation battery technology.
Priya Sharma
Partner, Carbon & Climate
Former lead researcher at Carbon Engineering. Priya brings deep technical expertise in direct air capture and carbon sequestration. She evaluates every deal through the lens of gigatons, not just gigawatts.
Marcus Chen
Chief Financial Officer
Two decades of institutional fund management across Bridgewater and BlackRock. Marcus oversees portfolio construction, risk management, and the financial architecture that lets Equinox take long-term bets with confidence.
The Equinox Thesis
We are in the first innings of a $130 trillion global energy transition. The technologies exist. The economics work. What is missing is capital with conviction — investors willing to back hard-science companies through the long valley between lab and market. That is where Equinox operates. We do not chase trends. We identify the physics-constrained bottlenecks in decarbonization and fund the teams solving them. Our average hold period is 8 years. Our deepest belief is that the companies addressing the climate crisis will be the most valuable companies of the next century.
