Configure DNS to Use Custom Domain Name with Godaddy and Heroku

Notes

In this lesson we will learn how to configure our DNS name. Right now to access our application we have to visit

https://your-app-name.herokuapp.com

It would be much cleaner to be able to visit

https://your-app-name.com

To get started with this process we need to visit our application's dashboard on Heroku. On the same page we set the environment variables last lesson search for a button that says Add Domain. Here we will type in whatever domain name we have bought from a DNS provider like GoDaddy. I personally will be entering www.nimblehq.com. Once we create the domain name it will be displayed along with a DNS target. The DNS target is what is going to our domain name to our application. Make sure to copy it and set your www subdomain to the DNS target.

These changes may take a moment to take affect, but we now have our own domain displaying our Heroku application.

Happy coding!!!!
